The West Herr Auditorium Theatre offers a variety of services to our diverse audiences, including patrons who use wheelchairs, who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who are visually impaired. In order for us to serve you best, patrons with requests for special ticket needs are asked to visit the Auditorium Box Office or contact us at (585) 222-5000 or [email protected]. RBTL makes every effort to make accommodations for patrons with accessibility requirements.

ACCESSIBILITY OFFERINGS

Auracast-Enabled Devices

Auracast, which uses Bluetooth low energy broadcast technology to stream live audio directly from the venue’s sound system, is available free of charge at all performances. Headphones may be obtained on a first-come, first-served basis at the Patron Services station in the main floor lobby. Compatible personal hearing aids may also be connected. Service provided by the Hearing Loss Association – Rochester Chapter (HLAA).

FM Listening Devices

FM Listening Devices, which amplify and clarify sound for the hard of hearing, are available free of charge at all performances. A headset may be obtained on a first-come, first-served basis at the Patron Services station in the main floor lobby.

Services for the Visually Impaired

Audio Description for the blind or visually impaired is available during most Sunday matinee subscription performances of the Broadway Season and select other performances. A trained describer narrates the visual elements of the show through a personal headset. A headset may be obtained on a first-come, first-served basis at the Patron Services station in the main floor lobby. Seating accommodations for the visually impaired may also be available in advance.

Sign Interpretation

American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation is offered during most Thursday evening subscription performances of the Broadway Season and select other performances. Reserve seating in view of the interpreter in advance, or request sign interpretation for specific events via the Box Office, at (585) 222-5000 or [email protected].

Open Captioning

Open Captioning, made possible by the Hearing Loss Association – Rochester Chapter (HLAA), is offered during most Sunday matinee subscription performances of the Broadway Season and select other performances. A text display scrolls words in synchronization with the dialogue and lyrics of the show. Reserve seating in view of the captioning screen in advance, or request open captioning for specific events, at (585) 222-5000 or [email protected].

Accessible Entry & Seating

The Auditorium Theatre is equipped with Orchestra level wheelchair and transfer seating, with mobility device storage available during the show (please see an usher for assistance). CLICK HERE to view the seating chart. Accessible entry and parking are located to the rear of the building off College Avenue. Accessible restrooms are located on the main level. Reserve accessible seating in advance via Ticketmaster.com (select the accessible ticket feature in your event filter), (585) 222-5000, [email protected], or the Auditorium Box Office.

Additional Services

Elevator to 2nd Floor Lobby

There is elevator access to the second floor lobby (which enters between rows D and E), however, Loge and Balcony seating do require patrons to climb some stairs to access seats.

Child Booster Seats

Booster seats for children are available free of charge for patron use at every Auditorium Theatre performance. Please ask an usher for assistance on the night of your performance.

Coat Check

In winter months, there is a coat check available in the second-floor mezzanine lounge of the Theatre, for a suggested $1 donation to RBTL’s Arts Education Programs. A numbered tag is provided to redeem the item following the performance.

Concessions/Bar

Concession/Bar areas are located on all levels of the Auditorium Theatre. Concessions are open during most Auditorium Theatre events, offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage selections, and a variety of desserts, candy and other snacks for purchase. Cash and credit cards accepted. (*Individual shows reserve the right to limit offerings.)

Family Restroom

A private family / all gender, accessible restroom is located in the second floor lobby, equipped with hand rails and a changing station.
