THE DIFFERENCE A NEW PERFORMING ARTS CENTER WILL MAKE
• Continuation and expansion of RBTL's educational programs for middle and high school students in the area, including Stars of Tomorrow, Summer Stars and Broadway workshops.
• The proven economic "return" from theatre events: Each dollar spent on a ticket generates $4.00 in related spending for restaurants, hotels and other related goods and services.
• Local economic impact of $30-$35 million.
• Over 1,000 construction jobs projected for the performing arts center at Renaissance Square can be created again as part of the Phoenix Project.
• Support for existing businesses and a spur to other development in the area, including restaurants, hotels and other services.
• A source of pride for the local community and the Rochester area
• A gathering point for non-theatre activities including performances, lectures and ceremonies.
• Annual attendance: 375,000 for 150 event-days and non-public receptions and activities 12 months a year.
• RBTL employs 34 FTE staff and 100-200 part-time staff.
WE NEED TO GET STARTED NOW
• The Phoenix Project performing arts center can become a reality within two to three years.
• If we wait:
• Shows and concerts we hope to attract won't come
• Public interest will wane
• Governmental support will evaporate.
• Waiting is a recipe for failure. We intend to succeed, and to make a longlasting positive contribution to improved quality of life in the Rochester area.
