Stars of Tomorrow is celebrating its 12th Anniversary and will participate in a nationwide program!

Stars of Tomorrow, the jewel of the RBTL's education programs, celebrates its 12th anniversary of recognizing the high school musical. The program is dedicated to supporting the true process of growth and learning, encouraging commitment, discipline, teamwork, and recognizing excellence.

This innovative program made its debut to the greater Rochester area in 1999, with the main intent of bringing long overdue recognition to the high school musical and its performing arts students. High schools in a six county area with a fall and a spring season of productions are invited to participate in the program.

2010 Stars of Tomorrow

Schools are divided into four divisions based upon school populations and geographic location. Judges are assigned to a specific division, Division A, B, C, or D and only view and adjudicate productions in their division.

RBTL will be participating in the second National High School Musical Theatre Awards. This opportunity celebrates outstanding theatre performances in high school musical productions across the United States with The Jimmy Awards that will honor an outstanding Lead Actor and Lead Actress. The Award Ceremony will be held in NYC June 2010.

Congratulations to Gavin McClelland from Mynderse Academy and
Marissa Bland from Churchville-Chili, for being selected to represent
Rochester, NY at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA)competition in NYC later this month. Both were recognized for leading roles at the Stars of Tomorrow ceremony on May 13th, which qualified them to then compete against 21 other students in the Stars of Tomorrow NYC Bound competition on June 6th. Best of luck to both in the Big Apple!

Highlights:

  • An adjudication report form that is based on a point system has been refined.
  • Each participating school will  receive only one consolidated adjudication report instead of receiving a report from each judge.
  • The focus of the ceremony continues to be more on student recognition than competition.
  • Four students from each division will be recognized in the thirteen categories.
  • All participating schools have an opportunity to perform during the ceremony.
  • The 12th Anniversary Gala Celebration is Thursday May 13, 2010.
  • Stars of Tomorrow NYC Bound, June 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM.
