RBTL believes that arts and performance are among the most eloquent
means of understanding and appreciating the human spirit, and therefore
must be an essential part of every child's education. Arts and
performance education teaches discipline, inspires creativity and helps
young people set and reach goals. RBTL is committed to education both
in and out of the classroom that engages and encourages children and
their families to explore, experience, participate and enjoy the
richness of the arts as an essential element of the human experience.
Over the past 15 years, Bob Sagan and the Rochester Broadway Theatre League have developed ten nationally recognized and award-winning arts education programs for students in the Greater Rochester area. In 2008 Bob was awarded WROC's 'Golden Apple Award
', he has been the recipient of several national education grants, and has been recognized on multiple occasions by 'The Broadway League' the NYC-based national trade association for the Broadway industry. Bob is also the recipient of the Arts Educator Award, presented by the Rochester Arts Council, and the Community Impact Award, presented by Friends of SOTA.
Thousands of students from the Rochester City School District and schools from as far as Seneca and Wyoming counties, find their niche in RBTL's arts education programs each year. Bob shares his knowledge with students through Theatre workshops and tours, classroom lectures and open discussions. From the "Stars of Tomorrow" Tony Award®-style High School musical recognition ceremony each spring, to the Dance, Acting, Vocal and Technical "Master Class" programs taught by Touring Broadway actors, to the Broadway summer day camp "Summer Stars" with instructors from NYC, Bob never ceases to find a way for students' creativity, talent and interests to shine and be explored.
Bob has a passion for the arts like no other, and is dedicated to exposing today's youth to all areas of performing arts. He values the importance of arts education for all students, and he strives to expose students of all ages to the Theatre.
